Double Moss Stitch

Worked over a multiple of 4 stitches.

Rows 1 and 2 (RS, WS): *Knit 2, p 2; rep from * to end of row.

Rows 3 and 4 (RS, WS): *Purl 2, k 2; rep from * to end of row.

Repeat Rows 1 - 4 for pattern.

A note on shaping in Double Moss Stitch: It is easy to work any waist or bust shaping rows in Double Moss Stitch if desired. Since Double Moss Stitch is such a simple texture, you may simply work decrease and increase rows with the typical k2tog, ssk decreases and make-one increases as written in your pattern. However, if you would like to preserve the Double Moss Stitch pattern through shaping, match your decreases and increases to the existing pattern as follows.

Work shaping exactly as written when the stitches to be shaped are knit stitches. To work decreases when your shaping marker lands in a purl section, p2tog at the first marker(s), and p2tog-tbl at the second marker(s). To work increases when your shaping marker lands in a purl section, make-one-purl instead of make-one-knit.
